依普利酮治疗高血压的效果如何？

Indications:

1. Congestive heart failure after acute myocardial infarction: Eplerenone can improve the quality of life of patients with left ventricular dysfunction (ejection fraction ≤ 40%). Clinical trials have proven that eplerenone can also be used for congestive heart failure after acute myocardial infarction;

2. Anti-hypertensive: Eplerenone can be used alone or in combination with other anti-hypertensive drugs for the treatment of hypertension.

So, how effective is eplerenone in treating high blood pressure?

In clinical studies of 3,091 patients with hypertension, the safety and efficacy of eplerenone were evaluated alone or in combination with other antihypertensive drugs.

Two fixed-dose, placebo-controlled, 8- to 12-week single-agent studies were conducted to evaluate the antihypertensive effect of eplerenone in 3091 patients with baseline diastolic blood pressure of 95 to 114 mm Hg. In both studies, 611 patients were randomly assigned to the eplerenone group and 140 to the placebo group.

Study patients were ≥65 years of age, including 46% women, 14% black, and 22% elderly. Patients with elevated baseline potassium (>5.0 mEq/L) and elevated baseline creatinine (men: >1.5 mg/dL, women: >1.3 mg/dL) were excluded.

The trial results showed that sitting systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure in the trough were significantly reduced in the eplerenone group, and the differences from the placebo were 6-13 mm Hg (systolic blood pressure) and 3-7 mm Hg (diastolic blood pressure). In patients receiving eplerenone, antihypertensive efficacy continued throughout dosing.

In the eplerenone treatment group, blood pressure dropped significantly within 2 weeks of treatment, and the maximum antihypertensive effect was achieved within 4 weeks.

It can improve the quality of life of patients with left ventricular dysfunction (ejection fraction ≤ 40%). Clinical trials have proven that eplerenone can also be used for congestive heart failure after acute myocardial infarction. Of course, eplerenone is also used in the control and treatment of common hypertension.
