【Indications】
This product is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor indicated for the following adult patients:
Hypertension: For the treatment of hypertension to lower blood pressure. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of fatal and non-fatal cardiovascular events, primarily stroke and myocardial infarction.
High Cardiovascular Risk: For patients aged 55 years and older at high risk of major cardiovascular events, to reduce the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, or cardiovascular death.
Post-Myocardial Infarction Heart Failure: For adult patients with heart failure following myocardial infarction, to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalization for heart failure.
【Recommended Dosage】
Hypertension:
Initial dose is 2.5 mg to 20 mg orally once daily. After 2–4 weeks of treatment, adjust the dose based on blood pressure response. The usual maintenance dose is 2.5 mg to 20 mg daily, administered as a single dose or in two equally divided doses.
Reduction of Myocardial Infarction, Stroke, or Cardiovascular Death Risk:
Week 1: 2.5 mg once daily; Weeks 2–4: 5 mg once daily; thereafter, titrate up to a maintenance dose of 10 mg once daily based on patient tolerance.
Post-Myocardial Infarction Heart Failure:
Initial dose is 2.5 mg orally twice daily. If hypotension occurs at this dose, reduce to 1.25 mg twice daily. Titrate the dose every 3 weeks based on patient tolerance to a target dose of 5 mg twice daily.
【Adverse Reactions】
The most common adverse reactions include cough and hypotension.
【Pharmacological Action】
This product inhibits angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) in humans and animals. ACE is a peptidyl dipeptidase that catalyzes the conversion of inactive angiotensin I to the potent vasoconstrictor angiotensin II. Angiotensin II also stimulates the adrenal cortex to secrete aldosterone. Inhibition of ACE leads to decreased plasma angiotensin II levels, thereby reducing vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion. Reduced aldosterone secretion may result in a slight increase in serum potassium levels.
【Storage】
Store refrigerated at 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F).
Store and dispense in the original container. After opening the bottle, store at 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F) and use within 60 days.
