Introduction to rivaroxaban:

Rivaroxaban is an anticoagulant drug used to prevent the formation of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) in patients following hip and knee replacement surgery. It can also be used to prevent stroke and non-central nervous system embolism in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation, and reduce the risk of recurrence of coronary syndrome.

Rivaroxaban is the world's first oral direct factor Xa inhibitor, which can highly selectively and competitively inhibit free and bound factor It has the characteristics of high bioavailability, wide spectrum of disease treatment, stable dose-effect relationship, convenient oral administration and low risk of bleeding.

Rivaroxaban has a preventive effect on deep vein thrombosis that occurs after hip or knee replacement surgery, and it can also prevent pulmonary embolism after hip or knee replacement surgery. Rivaroxaban can also prevent strokes caused by non-valvular atrial fibrillation. In addition, rivaroxaban also has preventive effects on non-central nervous system embolism. Rivaroxaban can reduce the risk of coronary syndrome recurrence.

Contraindications of Rivaroxaban:

Patients who are allergic to rivaroxaban or any excipients in the tablets; patients with clinically significant active bleeding; patients with liver disease who have coagulation abnormalities and clinically relevant bleeding risks; pregnant and lactating women are contraindicated.

Rivaroxaban is mainly metabolized by CYP3A4 and is a substrate of the transporter protein P-glycoprotein (P-gp). Therefore, rivaroxaban should not be used in combination with itraconazole, voriconazole, or posaconazole.

Generally speaking, gastrointestinal discomfort may occur when taking rivaroxaban, but the most common ones are liver and kidney damage and the risk of bleeding. Currently, there is a certain relationship between anorexia and taking this drug. It is recommended to continue taking it and choose to eat smaller meals more frequently.
