So, what are the common side effects of taking rivaroxaban?

Common side effects of rivaroxaban:

1. Blood and lymphatic system diseases: agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia;

2. Intestinal diseases: retroperitoneal bleeding;

3. Hepatobiliary diseases: jaundice, cholestasis, hepatitis (including liver cell damage);

4. Immune system diseases: hypersensitivity, allergic reaction, anaphylactic shock, angioedema;

5. Nervous system diseases: cerebral hemorrhage, subdural hematoma, epidural hematoma, hemiparesis;

6. Skin and subcutaneous tissue: Stevens-Johnson syndrome;

7. The risk of stroke increases after early discontinuation of medication in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation;

8. Bleeding risk;

9. Spinal/epidural hematoma.

In addition, rivaroxaban is also recommended for adult patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation to reduce the risk of stroke and systemic embolism. The efficacy of rivaroxaban is not inferior to warfarin, the incidence of intracranial hemorrhage is lower than warfarin, and routine monitoring of anticoagulation intensity is not required.

Rivaroxaban usage and dosage:

The recommended dose is oral rivaroxaban 10 mg once daily. If the wound has stopped bleeding, the first medication should be administered between 6-10 hours after surgery. The length of treatment is determined by each patient's risk of VTE, i.e. by the type of orthopedic surgery the patient has undergone. For patients undergoing major hip surgery, a recommended course of treatment is 5 weeks. For patients undergoing major knee surgery, a recommended course of treatment is 2 weeks. If a missed dose occurs, the patient should take rivaroxaban immediately and continue taking the drug once a day the next day. Patients can take rivaroxaban with a meal or on its own.
