Does Monupivir have any serious side effects?

Monopivir/monoravir has serious side effects. If the patient develops symptoms and signs of hypersensitivity reaction while taking the drug, he should stop using it immediately and start appropriate treatment under the guidance of a doctor. Monupivir is also called monupivir/monapiravir, molnupiravir, and monogravir. Although it is effective in treating infectious diseases caused by SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19 patients), it also has side effects. Due to the different physiques and conditions of patients, the side effects produced after taking the drug are also different.

Safety was assessed based on an analysis of the Phase 3 double-blind trial (MOVe-OUT), in which 1,411 non-hospitalized COVID-19 subjects were randomly assigned and treated with either monoprevir/monoravir (710 people) or placebo (701 people) for up to 5 days. Adverse events are adverse events reported by subjects while receiving the study intervention or within 14 days after completion/cessation of the study intervention.

Discontinuation of study intervention due to adverse events occurred in 1% of subjects receiving monoprevir/monoravir and 3% of subjects receiving placebo. Serious adverse events occurred in 7% of subjects receiving monoprevir/monoravir and in 10% of subjects receiving placebo; most serious adverse events were related to COVID-19. Adverse events leading to death occurred in 2 (<1%) subjects receiving monoprevir/monoravir and 12 (2%) subjects receiving placebo.

The side effects of Monupivir/Monoravir mainly include diarrhea, nausea, floating dizziness, headache, vomiting, rash, urticaria, toxic rash, erythema, angioedema, etc. Patients should pay attention to physical reactions during medication. If there is intolerance, contact the doctor in time for symptomatic treatment.
