Respimat, also known as Sliva, is a spray form of tiotropium bromide, used to treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD, referred to as COPD). In May 2015, it was approved for marketing by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It contains two active substances, tiotropium bromide and olodaterol, both of which are long-acting bronchodilators.

Respimat helps open the airways, making it easier for air to move in and out of the lungs. Normal use of Respimat can also relieve persistent shortness of breath caused by the disease, helping to minimize the impact of the disease on daily life. Data from 2 pivotal Phase III trials (TONADO-1, -2). The study involved more than 5,000 COPD patients. Data showed that compared with placebo, tiotropium bromide, and olodaterol monotherapy, Respimat produced a statistically significant improvement in patients' lung function (FEV1) and had a similar safety profile to tiotropium bromide or olodaterol. In a study conducted in China, the blood gas indicators and serum inflammatory factor levels of the observation group treated with combined medication were better than those of the control group (P<0.05). The patient satisfaction of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). The asthma symptom score was significantly improved, and the COPD symptom score was significantly reduced. The improvement of the observation group was significantly better than that of the control group (P<0.05).

Dry mouth is a common adverse reaction of Respimat. Rare adverse reactions include dizziness, cough, constipation, difficulty sleeping (insomnia), headache, high blood pressure, irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation), feeling of heartbeat (palpitations), rapid heartbeat (tachycardia), etc. In addition, if you have an immediate allergic reaction after taking Respimat, such as rash, hives, swelling of the mouth and face, sudden difficulty in breathing, etc., please stop using this drug and consult a doctor immediately.
