Do capsules treat asthma?

Budesonide is an adrenocortical hormone drug. Budesonide is a non-halogenated glucocorticoid that has a strong local anti-inflammatory effect and can inhibit early bronchospasm and late allergic reactions. It is one of the important drugs for the treatment of allergic asthma.

Budesonide is mainly used for chronic reversible airway obstructive diseases such as bronchial asthma. The dosage of Budesonide is generally 1-2 mg once for adults, twice a day; for children, 0.5-1 mg once, twice a day. The maintenance dose should be individualized, that is, the lowest dose to maintain no symptoms. It is recommended that adults take 0.5-1 mg twice a day and children 0.25-0.5 mg twice a day.

Budesonide has a remarkable therapeutic effect, and the successful development of this drug is good news for many patients. However, taking Budesonide can cause some adverse reactions or side effects. The most common side effects include: mild throat irritation/cough/hoarseness; oropharyngeal candida infection; immediate or delayed allergic reactions, including rash/contact dermatitis/urticaria/angioedema and bronchospasm; psychiatric symptoms, such as nervousness/restlessness/depression/behavioral disorder, etc. Before receiving Budesonide treatment, patients should go to the hospital for detailed examination and strictly follow the doctor's diagnosis and treatment recommendations.

Taking Budesonide for treatment may cause localized nasal effects: nasal septum perforation, nasal ulcers, epistaxis, localized Candida albicans infection, and nasal or pharyngeal infection. Patients should be regularly monitored for nasal adverse reactions during Budesonide treatment; if infection occurs, Budesonide treatment may need to be discontinued.
