Its pharmacological effects are mainly to enhance central anticholinergic activity, inhibit the recycling of 5-HT and NE, thereby enhancing the amount of 5-HT in the hippocampus and improving depressive symptoms. At the same time, sertraline can stimulate the 5-HT2A receptors on the presynaptic membrane of DA nerves, inhibiting DA release and further strengthening the antipsychotic effect. Because sertraline is well tolerated and has no serious adverse reactions compared to tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs), it is more acceptable to parents for adolescent patients.

60 children and adolescents with depression were selected as the main experimental subjects and randomly divided into an experimental group of 30 cases and a control group of 30 cases. The experimental group was given sertraline combined with psychological intervention treatment, and the control group was given sertraline treatment. To observe the negative mental state scores and quality of life scores of the two groups of patients, the t test was used; to observe the clinical treatment effects and overall treatment satisfaction rate of the two groups, the x2 test was used. Results The adverse mental state scores, clinical treatment effects, quality of life scores and overall treatment satisfaction rate of the experimental group were significantly better than those of the control group, with significant differences (P<0.05). It is concluded that sertraline combined with psychological pretreatment can effectively relieve depression in clinical children and adolescents with depression, and the effect is significant.
