Can romiplostim treat platelets?

Romiplostim belongs to a class of drugs called thrombopoietin receptor agonists, which work by causing bone marrow cells to produce more platelets. Romiplostimshould not be used to treat people with low platelet levels caused by myelodysplastic syndrome or any other condition that causes low platelet levels other than ITP. Romiplostim is used to increase platelet counts sufficiently to reduce the risk of bleeding, but is not used to increase platelet counts to normal levels.
