In acute graft-versus-host disease, common side effects include thrombocytopenia, anemia, neutropenia, cytomegalovirus infection, sepsis (when bacteria and their toxins circulate in the blood causing organ damage), urinary tract (structure that carries urine) infection, hypercholesterolemia, and elevated liver enzyme levels.
