Do I need to stop taking Riluzole if I experience adverse reactions?
Riluzole (Riluzole) is used to treat amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The recommended dose is 50mg, taken orally twice a day. It should be taken at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals. Adverse reactions in some cases after marketing include acute hepatitis and jaundice-type toxic hepatitis, renal tubular damage, and pancreatitis. The most common adverse reactions leading to discontinuation of riluzole are nausea, abdominal pain, constipation, and elevated alanine aminotransferase (ALT). Riluzole may slow the progression of ALS but will not cure it. Continue taking riluzole even if you feel well. Do not stop taking riluzole without talking to your doctor.
