Although Ofatumumab is different from rituximab (another drug used to treat rheumatoid arthritis and B. CD-20 monoclonal antibody for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma) has a similar molecular mechanism of action, but ofatumumab has a higher affinity for CD20.1. Ofatumumab is given monthly by subcutaneous injection, while rituximab is given by intravenous infusion approximately every six months. Ofatumumabbinds to a different CD20 epitope than rituximab. All three anti-CD20 therapies induced cytolysis of circulating B cells. Ofatumumab causes more cell-dependent rather than complement-dependent cytotoxicity compared with rituximab, although the clinical relevance of these mechanistic differences is unclear and is likely small.
