Sunitinib (Sutent) standard dosage and daily medication guidance
Sunitinib (mostly sold under the trade name Sutent) is an oral multi-target tyrosine kinase inhibitor, mainly used for the treatment of malignant tumors such as renal cell carcinoma, gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST), and pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors. The standard dosage and usage vary slightly depending on the indications, but the general principle is to inhibit tumor-related signaling pathways and achieve anti-cancer effects through oral administration at a fixed period.
In the treatment of renal cell carcinoma and gastrointestinal stromal tumors, the commonly used standard dose is 50mg, once a day, taken continuously for 4 weeks and then stopped for 2 weeks, forming a 6 weekly dosing schedule. This "4weeks of medication+2weeks of medication off" model helps reduce the cumulative risk of adverse reactions. For patients with pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, a regimen of 37.5mg once a day, continued daily, and uninterrupted medication is usually adopted. Different dosages and cycle schedules are mainly formulated based on tumor type and tolerance.

When taking the medicine daily, it is recommended to swallow the whole tablet of Sunitinib. It can be taken with a meal or on an empty stomach. However, the medicine should be taken at the same time every day to maintain the stability of the drug concentration in the body. Patients should not increase or decrease the dose without authorization or stop taking the medication on their own. If the dose needs to be adjusted due to side effects, it should be changed to the 37.5mg or 25mg regimen after evaluation by the attending physician. During medication, avoid drinking grapefruit juice or using drugs that are strong CYP3A4 inhibitors/inducers to avoid affecting drug metabolism and efficacy.
In terms of daily medication guidance, patients need to pay attention to regular monitoring of blood pressure, heart function, liver and kidney function and blood routine indicators to detect side effects in a timely manner. Common adverse reactions include fatigue, decreased appetite, hand-foot syndrome, hypertension, and thyroid dysfunction. If you experience severe discomfort, inform your doctor immediately. In general, the correct dosage and standardized medication of sunitinib can not only ensure the efficacy, but also minimize the toxic and side effects, bringing more stable treatment benefits to patients.
