Efficacy and effects of Selpercatinib

In a major study of patients with cancers caused by abnormalities in the RET gene, Selpercatinib effectively reduced the size of tumors, including advanced non-small cell lung cancer, advanced thyroid cancer, advanced thyroid cancer, and advanced medullary thyroid cancer. In this study, serpatinib was not compared with other drugs or a placebo (a dummy treatment).

Among adult patients with non-small cell lung cancer who had previously received platinum-based chemotherapy, 64% of those treated with serpatinib saw their cancer shrink. Among previously untreated patients, 84% had a complete (no sign of cancer) or partial (tumor shrinkage) response to serpatinib treatment. Among 19 adult patients with thyroid cancer, 79% experienced tumor shrinkage after treatment with sorafenib or lenvatinib.

Among adults and adolescents 15 years and older with medullary thyroid cancer, 73.5% of patients who had previously been treated with capozantinib or vandetinib had their cancer shrink, compared with 81% of patients who had not previously been treated with capozantinib or vandetinib. Serpatinib may also be effective in adolescents 12 years and older with medullary thyroid cancer because the drug is distributed and cleared in these patients in the same way as adults.

The original drug Serpatinib has not yet been launched in China, so it is not covered by medical insurance. Domestic patients cannot yet purchase this drug. The specification produced by a Bangladesh pharmaceutical factory is 40mg*30 pills per box and the price is about 4,300 yuan (the price may fluctuate due to the exchange rate).
