How long does it take to breastfeed after stopping Rivaroxaban?

In an animal experiment, after a single oral dose of 3 mg/kg radioactive [14C]-rivaroxaban (Rivaroxaban) was given to lactating rats on the 8th to 10th day after delivery, the total radioactivity concentration in the milk samples collected within 32 hours after administration was measured. The estimated amount of radioactivity excreted in breast milk within 32 hours after administration is 2.1% of the maternal dose.

Rivaroxaban has been detected in breast milk, but there are insufficient data to determine the effects of rivaroxaban on breastfed children or on milk production. Rivaroxaban and/or its metabolites are present in rat milk. The developmental and health benefits of breastfeeding should be considered together with the mother's clinical need forrivaroxaban and any potential adverse effects on the breastfed infant from rivaroxaban or the underlying maternal condition. Rivaroxaban should therefore not be used in pregnant or breastfeeding women. Women of reproductive potential and women with abnormal uterine bleeding should be assessed for the risk of clinically significant uterine bleeding (which may require gynecological surgical intervention) established with oral anticoagulants, including rivaroxaban.
