Romiplostim effects and side effects

Romiplostim (Romiplostim) is a platelet growth factor used to treat idiopathic/immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) and chronic immune thrombocytopenia (CITP). It binds to thrombopoietic receptors (TPO receptors) in the process of platelet production and activates these receptors. Romiplostim stimulates stem cells in the bone marrow to increase the number of platelets produced, thereby increasing platelet counts.

Patients with known risk factors for thromboembolism (e.g. factor V Leiden, antiphospholipid syndrome, antithrombin III deficiency, prolonged immobility, malignancy, surgery or trauma, contraceptives and hormone replacement therapy, obesity, smoking). It is not recommended for the treatment of thrombocytopenia due to myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) or any cause other than ITP. Renal and moderate to severe hepatic impairment are not suitable for normalizing platelet counts. Adverse reactions that have occurred in patients with romiplostim with ITP lasting up to 12 months include bronchitis, sinusitis, vomiting, arthralgia, myalgia, headache, dizziness, diarrhea, upper respiratory tract infection, cough, nausea, and oropharyngeal pain. Adverse events such as erythromelalgia, angioedema, and allergic reactions also occurred after marketing.

RomiplostimThe original drug has been approved by the State Food and Drug Administration for marketing. Due to its short time on the market, it is not included in the scope of medical insurance.
