What is Pomalidomide?

Pomalidomide (Pomalidomide) is an immunomodulator with anti-tumor activity. It can inhibit the proliferation of various tumor cells and induce their apoptosis. It is indicated for patients with multiple myeloma who have received at least two prior treatments including lenalidomide and whose disease has progressed within 60 days of the last treatment. It is also indicated for the treatment of Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) in AIDS patients who have failed highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART), and for the treatment of KS in HIV-negative patients.

Treatment with pomalidomide must be initiated and supervised by a physician experienced in treating multiple myeloma. This drug is available by prescription only and is available in capsules (1, 2, 3 and 4 mg). Take during the first 2 weeks of a 3-week treatment cycle when administered with bortezomib and dexamethasone, or during the first 3 weeks of a 4-week treatment cycle when administered with dexamethasone alone. If the disease worsens or certain side effects occur, treatment with pomalidomide may need to be interrupted or stopped, or the dose reduced.

Pomalidomide, independently developed in China, has been launched domestically and has now entered the scope of medical insurance.
