Manufacturer of Ofatumumab

Ofatumumab (Ofatumumab) was jointly developed by the Danish biotechnology company Genmab and GlaxoSmithKline. It was approved in the United States in 2009 for the treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia with the trade name Arzerra , it is marketed by Novartis under a license from Genmab and subsequently under the trade name Kesimpta in the United States in August 2020 for the treatment of relapsing multiple sclerosis in adults.

Ofatumumab is the first fully human antiCD20 monoclonal antibody (MAB). CD20 is expressed on normal pre-B lymphocytes and mature B lymphocytes as well as malignant B lymphocytes. Numerous studies have shown that B cell depletion can significantly alleviate symptoms of multiple forms of leukemia and lymphoma, malignancies associated with B cell dysfunction and high CD20 expression. In a study consisting of patients with relapsed or refractory chronic lymphocytic leukemia and small lymphocytic lymphoma, the Cmax was 94 μg/mL and the Tmax was 7.3 hours after the first infusion of 300 mg ofatumumab. Following subcutaneous injection, ofatumumab is thought to be absorbed primarily into the lymphatic system, and subcutaneous administration of 20 mg every four weeks resulted in a mean AUCtau of 483 μg*h/mL and a mean steady-state Cmax of 1.43 μg/mL.

The original drug of ofatumumab has been launched in China and has also been included in medical insurance. Only patients who meet the indications can be reimbursed. The price is around tens of thousands of yuan, and domestic purchase channels are relatively difficult. The European version of ofatumumab original drug specifications20mg/0.4mL each sold overseas may cost around RMB 16,000 (the price may fluctuate due to the exchange rate).
