How many years can you live on Zanubrutinib?

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the drug Zanubrutinib (Zanubrutinib), for For patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) or small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL), it is a more effective treatment option with fewer side effects than common CLL treatments. Two years after patients in the trial started treatment, more than 78% of patients who received zanubrutinib were alive without their cancer growing, compared with 66% of patients who received ibrutinib. Zanubrutinib is particularly effective in cancer patients with genetic mutations that often portend a poor prognosis.

Zanubrutinib is not only more effective at preventing CLL regression, but it also has fewer side effects than ibrutinib. In the first trial ofSEQUOIA, CLL patients who received zanubrutinib as initial or first-line treatment lived longer without their cancer getting worse than those who received rituximab (Rituxan) plus the chemotherapy drug bendamustine. In the second trial, called ALPINE, researchers compared zanubrutinib to a common CLL treatment of the same type, called ibrutinib, which is known to have several challenging side effects. Both drugs inhibit a protein called BTK, which promotes the growth and survival of CLL cells.

The original drug of zanubrutinib has been launched in China and has been included in the medical insurance. The price of 80mg*64 capsules per box may be around 6,000 yuan. The original drug of zanubrutinib marketed overseas is relatively expensive. There are currently no generic drugs of zanubrutinib on the market.
