Cemiplimab side effects
Cemiplimab (Cemiplimab) is an immunotherapy drug used to treat some types of cancer. Although it has made remarkable achievements in improving patients' survival prospects and treatment effects, like any drug, it may also cause some adverse effects. The following are the main possible side effects of cimepilimab:
1. Immune-related side effects:
The mechanism of action of cimipilimab is to activate the immune system to attack cancer cells, but this may also cause the immune system to attack normal tissues, causing immune-related side effects. These side effects may include:
Immune rash: Rash is one of the most common immune-related skin reactions, and patients may experience symptoms such as erythema, itching, and dry skin.
Immune thyroid disease: Medications may affect thyroid function, causing hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism.
Pneumonia: Immune-related pneumonia sometimes occurs and presents with difficulty breathing, cough, and chest pain.
Abnormal liver function: Medications may have adverse effects on the liver, causing abnormal liver function, including elevated liver enzymes.
Gastrointestinal inflammation: Immune gastrointestinal inflammation may cause abdominal pain, diarrhea, and indigestion.
Other immune-related side effects: Other immune-related adverse events may also occur, such as arthritis, thyroiditis, dermatitis, and intestinal inflammation.
2. Fatigue:
Fatigue is a common side effect of immunotherapy and may affect patients' quality of life. Patients may feel extremely tired, weak, and weak.
3. Skin problems:
In addition to immune-related rashes, cimepilimab may cause other skin problems, including dryness, itching, blisters, plaques, and hyperpigmentation.
4. Nausea and diarrhea:
Some patients may experience gastrointestinal complaints such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea while receiving cimepilimab.
5. Loss of appetite:
Medications may cause a loss of appetite, and the patient may lose interest in food, resulting in weight loss.
6. Headache:
Headache is another common adverse reaction, and patients may experience headaches or increased intracranial pressure.
7. Muscle and joint pain:
Muscle and joint pain is another potential side effect that may cause discomfort and limited movement.
8. Fever:
Some patients may develop fever during treatment, which may be due to activation of the immune system.
9. Allergic reaction:
Although relatively rare, sometimes patients may have an allergic reaction to the drug, manifesting as rash, hives, shortness of breath and other symptoms.
10. Other uncommon side effects:
Cimepilimab may cause other uncommon side effects, such as eye inflammation, eye dryness, visual impairment, and irregular heartbeat. These adverse events require close monitoring and management.
It is important to emphasize that not every patient will experience these side effects, and the severity of side effects varies from person to person. Patients need to closely monitor their physical condition during treatment with cimepilimab and communicate with their doctors at any time to deal with any discomfort in a timely manner. A medical professional will determine whether adjustments to the treatment plan or other interventions are needed based on the patient's specific situation and the severity of the side effects. Additionally, early detection and treatment of immune-related side effects is critical to maximize treatment effectiveness and reduce discomfort.
Cimeplimab is not currently available in China, so patients cannot purchase it domestically and need to purchase cimeplimab through overseas channels. There are only cimepri monoclonal original drugs abroad, mainly European and American versions. The European version is about 40,000, and the American version is about 100,000. Both are original drugs, and their drug ingredients and efficacy are the same.
