The most recently investigated alternative form of ADT is the development of Relugolix, a novel, potent, non-peptide, orally active, small molecule gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonist that effectively blocks androgen production for the treatment of advanced prostate cancer. This is the only oral GnRH antagonist recently developed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and approved for the treatment of advanced prostate cancer in December 2020.

The pathogenesis and progression of prostate cancer appear to be driven, at least in part, by the effects of testosterone. Androgen deprivation has been shown to cause cell death and tumor regression in many well-differentiated prostate cancer cell lines, and therefore, androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) has become a standard therapy for the treatment of prostate cancer, especially advanced prostate cancer. It has been reported that, compared with LHRH agonists, repagliflozin provides the efficacy and potential cardiac safety benefits of a GnRH antagonist in a once-daily oral dose and is therefore not associated with injection site reactions that limit the absorption of injectable GnRH formulations.

The original drug of Regogliflox has not yet been launched in China, so it is not covered by medical insurance. Domestic patients are not yet able to purchase this drug through relevant domestic channels. There are European and Japanese versions of the original drug Rleglik available overseas. The ingredients of the two are basically the same. The price of the European version of 120mg*30 tablets per box may be around RMB 4,000, and the price of the Japanese version of 40mg*100 tablets per box may be around RMB 4,000 (the price may fluctuate due to exchange rates).
