What is Pitolisant-wakix?

Pitolisant (Pitolisant)-wakix is a drug used to treat excessive daytime sleepiness in adults with narcolepsy. Its brand name is Wakix. Tilolisan tablets are a histamine 3 (H3) receptor antagonist/inverse agonist and are the first commercially available drug of its kind. Pitolisant (pituitulin) in Tilolisan tablets enhances the activity of histaminergic neurons in the brain, and its function is to improve people's waking state.

Tilolixen tablets are indicated for the treatment of adults with narcolepsy, a chronic sleep disorder that causes daytime drowsiness. Tilolixen tablets can also improve alertness and reduce excessive daytime sleepiness in patients with obstructive sleep apnea. Ingredients of Pitolisant TabletsPitolisant is a pituitary hormone whose H3 autoreceptor regulates histaminergic activity in the central nervous system (and to a lesser extent the peripheral nervous system) by inhibiting histamine synthesis and release after binding to endogenous histamine. Tilolixen enhances histaminergic activity in the brain by preventing the binding of endogenous histamine at H3 and producing an opposite response to endogenous histamine at the receptor (inverse agonism). The most common side effects of tilolixen include insomnia, headache, nausea, anxiety, irritability, dizziness, depression, tremor, sleep disturbance, fatigue, vomiting, dizziness, and indigestion (heartburn). Rare but serious side effects are abnormal weight loss and spontaneous abortion.

Tilorisen tablets have been marketed in the country, but have not yet been included in medical insurance. The price of each box of the original version of tilorisen tablets marketed overseas may be over more than RMB 4,000 (the price may fluctuate due to exchange rates). Currently, there are no generic versions of tilorisen tablets produced and marketed overseas.
