What is Erdafitinib?

Erdafitinib (Erdafitinib) is a pan-fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitor, suitable for the treatment of patients with localized Adult patients with advanced or metastatic urothelial carcinoma (mUC) with predisposing FGFR3 or FGFR2 genetic alterations that have progressed during or after at least one prior platinum-containing chemotherapy, including neoadjuvant or adjuvant platinum-containing chemotherapy.

Patient selection for erdafitinib for the treatment of locally advanced or metastatic urothelial carcinoma should be based on the presence of predisposing FGFR gene alterations in tumor samples detected by an U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)approved companion diagnostic, such as therapscreen FGFR RGQ RT-PCR kit, and the above indication is approved under accelerated approval by the FDA based on tumor response rate. Continued approval of this indication may be dependent on verification and description of clinical benefit in confirmatory trials. The most common adverse reactions(ARs) are stomatitis, fatigue, diarrhea, dry mouth, nail abnormalities, decreased appetite, dysgeusia, dry skin, dry eyes, alopecia, palmar-plantar dysesthesia syndrome, constipation, abdominal pain, nausea and musculoskeletal pain.

The original version of erdafitinib has not yet been launched in China, so it cannot be covered by medical insurance. The original version of erdafitinib currently sold in Hong Kong may cost more than 20,000 yuan per box of specifications 4mg*14 tablets (the price may fluctuate due to exchange rates). Cheaper erdafitinib generic drugs produced by other pharmaceutical factories are also sold overseas. The pharmaceutical ingredients are basically the same as those of the original drug. For example, the price of 4mg*60 tablets produced by a Bangladeshi pharmaceutical factory may be more than 3,000 yuan per box (the price may fluctuate due to exchange rates).
