Introduction to Trelagliptin

1. Efficacy: Trelagliptin is used to treat type 2 diabetes. It is considered an auxiliary drug for diet and exercise and can improve blood sugar control in adults.

2. Usage and dosage: The recommended dose of trolagliptin is 100 mg orally once a week. Since delayed excretion in patients with moderate renal impairment may result in elevated plasma concentrations, a dose of 100 mg is not recommended for patients with moderate renal impairment. Since the elderly often suffer from reduced renal function, preventive measures should be taken to prevent the occurrence of adverse reactions, and administration should be done with caution under close observation.

3. Side effects: The most common side effects of trolagliptin include nasopharyngitis, rash and itching. There are no case reports of death, serious adverse events or hypoglycemia, but these are not all possible side effects of trolagliptin.

4. Contraindications: This drug is prohibited for patients who are allergic to trotagliptin or any of its components. Tretagliptin is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment or end-stage renal failure receiving dialysis.

5. Combined use: The simultaneous use of trolagliptin and sulfonylureas or insulin preparations may increase the risk of hypoglycemia. When used concomitantly with trotagliptin, a dose reduction of the sulfonylurea or insulin preparation should be considered to reduce the risk of hypoglycemia.

6. Special groups: Acute pancreatitis is related to otherDPP-4 inhibitors. If pancreatitis is suspected, trolagliptin should be discontinued immediately and appropriate therapy initiated.

7. Principle of action: By inhibiting the activity of dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4), troagliptin inactivates glucagon-like peptide -1 (GLP-1) that is stimulated to be secreted into the blood after oral administration. Tretagliptincan increase the blood concentration of GLP-1 and promote pancreatic insulin secretion according to glucose concentration.
