Which company does Avelumab come from?
Avelumab (Avelumab) is manufactured by Merck KGaA) and Pfizer (Pfizer), in March 2017, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the marketing of avelumab injection, a programmed death ligand-1 (PD-L1) blocking antibody, for the treatment of Merkel cell carcinoma (an aggressive form of skin cancer), urothelial cancer (bladder cancer), and renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer).

Avelumab works by causing the patient's immune system to attack tumor cells. Avelumab may cause the patient's own immune system to attack healthy organs and tissues in the body. As with most checkpoint inhibitors, side effects of avelumab are common and include fatigue, headache, musculoskeletal pain, joint pain, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, weight loss, fever, cough, dyspnea, pruritus, and rash. Importantly, as a result of immune enhancement, 15% to 30% of patients treated with avelumab experience immune-related side effects, including enterocolitis, dermatitis, endocrinopathy, pneumonitis, neuropathy, nephritis, and hepatitis.
Avelumab is an emerging cancer treatment drug. The original drug has not yet been marketed in China, so it cannot be included in medical insurance. The price of Avelumab's generic drug, 200mg/10mL per box, may be more than RMB 10,000 per box (the price may fluctuate due to the exchange rate). We are not aware of any Avelumab generics being produced and put on the market. For specific prices and drug details, please consult Yade's medical consultant.
