Is tremelimumab a targeted drug against tumor angiogenesis?

Tremelimumab/Tremelimumab is an immune checkpoint inhibitor used to treat certain types of tumors. Tesetumumab is not a targeted drug that directly inhibits tumor angiogenesis. Anti-angiogenesis targeted drugs usually refer to drugs that inhibit tumor angiogenesis, such as vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR) inhibitors or vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) inhibitors. This type of drug mainly inhibits tumor growth and spread by blocking the tumor blood supply.

Tremelimumab is a monoclonal antibody drug that is a treatment that helps the immune system fight cancer. Antibodies are proteins produced by plasma cells that the immune system produces by attaching itself to molecules on the surface of problematic cells. Once the antibody attaches to the antigen on the molecule, the receptor signals the immune system to fight back. Receptors interpret and respond to signals from a variety of factors, such as cancer cells. Tremelimumab is designed to target receptors on immune cells that normally suppress immune attack. Tremelimumab kills cancer cells by activating immune cells called cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) or killer T cells. Drugs such as tremelimumab are designed to fight cancer cells by increasing the number of activated killer T cells.

Tremelimumab/Tremelimumab is a new type of cancer immunotherapy drug. It has not yet been launched in China, so it cannot be included in the medical insurance. Domestic patients cannot yet purchase this drug. It is understood that the US version of temsitumumab original drug sold overseas may cost more than more than 3,000 US dollars per box, and the specification is 300mg/50mL (20mg/mL).
