Can venetoclax/venetoclax be taken together with voriconazole?
Venetoclax and Voriconazole are completely different drugs with different mechanisms of action and indications. Venetoclax is a drug used to treat certain types of blood cancers, while voriconazole is an antifungal drug. Although no clear contraindications or interactions have been reported, concomitant use of these two drugs may interact and result in changes in drug concentrations.
Results from a pharmacokinetic study in patients with acute myeloid leukemia who were treated with venetoclax with or without voriconazole showed that when combined with voriconazole 200 mg q12h, the peak concentration of venetoclax (100 mg qd) increased to the same level as the 400 mg qd group. However, the trough concentration of venetoclax (100 mg qd) was much higher than that of the 400 mg qd group. Therapeutic drug monitoring can provide guidance for adjusting dosage regimens and ensure patient drug efficacy and safety to a certain extent.
The original drug of Venekra has been launched in China and has been included in Class B medical insurance. The price of 100mg*14 tablets per box may be around 2,000 RMB, while the Turkish version of the original drug sold overseas, with the specification of 100mg*112 tablets, costs more than 10,000 RMB per box (the price may fluctuate due to the exchange rate). There are also cheaper generic drugs of Venacla sold overseas. Their pharmaceutical ingredients are basically the same as those of the original drugs sold domestically and abroad. For example, the price of 100mg*120 tablets produced by a Bangladesh pharmaceutical factory is more than 4,000 yuan per box (the price may fluctuate due to the exchange rate).
