What is Ixazomib?
Ixazomib is a proteasome inhibitor indicated for use in combination with lenalidomide and dexamethasone in patients with multiple myeloma who have received at least one prior therapy. Ixazomib is not recommended in combination with lenalidomide and dexamethasone for maintenance treatment in uncontrolled clinical trials or in newly diagnosed multiple myeloma.

Before taking this medication, it should not be used if the patient is allergic to ixazomib. Tell your doctor if you have :liver disease; or kidney disease. Ixazomibmay harm an unborn baby. Both men and women should use effective birth control to prevent pregnancy while taking ixazomib and for at least 90 days after the last dose. IfThe patient is a woman also taking dexamethasone:If using birth control pills or other hormonal birth control (injection, implant, skin patch, vaginal ring), also use a barrier form of birth control such as a condom, diaphragm, cervical cap, or contraceptive sponge. IxazomibFor use with lenalidomide. Do not use ixazomib with lenalidomide if you are pregnant, or if you are a man and your sexual partner is pregnant. Lenalidomide is known to cause serious life-threatening birth defects or infant death if the mother or father is conceiving or takes this medicine during pregnancy. Carefully follow all instructions for using birth control pills while using ixazomib and lenalidomide. If a mother or father becomes pregnant while using these drugs, tell the doctor right away.
