Seleniso was successfully included in the National Medical Insurance Drug List
Selinexor (Selinexor) is an oral anticancer drug that belongs to a class of drugs called selective nucleocytoplasmic transport inhibitors (Selective Inhibitors of Nuclear Export, SINE). It was developed by Karyopharm Therapeutics and was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2019 for the treatment of multiple myeloma (MM) and some lymphomas.
Seleniso is already on the market in China and has been included in medical insurance, but its price is quite expensive, about 10,000 to 20,000 yuan, making patients bear higher treatment costs. In cancer cells, abnormal activity of XPO1 has been linked to cancer development and drug resistance. By inhibiting XPO1, selinesol alters the nucleocytoplasmic transport of intracellular proteins, thereby regulating the proliferation and survival of cancer cells.
Specifically, selinesol binds to and inhibitsXPO1, preventing it from mediating the transport of some key proteins in tumor cells to the cytoplasm. These proteins include some important molecules that inhibit tumor growth and promote apoptosis. By regulating the location of these proteins, selinesol affects the biology of cancer cells, hindering their growth and survival.
