Pemetinib/pemetinib administration methods and precautions

Before using pemigatinib/Pemigatinib (Pemigatinib) or before, be sure to read the package insert carefully and follow all directions from your doctor or pharmacist. The way this drug is taken is very critical because it directly affects the effectiveness of the treatment. The treatment cycle of pemetinib is designed to be a 21-day cycle. Patients take the medication regularly for the first two weeks of each cycle, followed by a week off medication. The specific duration of medication should be determined by the doctor based on the patient's specific condition.

In order to ensure a stable concentration of the drug in the body, it is recommended that patients take pemetinib at a fixed time every day. When taking the medicine, swallow the tablet whole and do not chew, crush or dissolve the tablet to avoid affecting the efficacy of the medicine. When storing pemetinib, it needs to be placed at room temperature and away from humid and high-temperature areas to ensure the stability and effectiveness of the drug. For patients with cholangiocarcinoma (CCA), the recommended dose of pemetinib is 13.5 mg daily for 14 days followed by 7 days off. For patients with FGFR1-rearranged myeloid/lymphoid tumors, the recommended dose is also 13.5 mg per day, but they need to be taken continuously until the disease progresses or the drug side effects are unacceptable.

If a patient misses a dose of pemetinib and realizes it within 4 hours, the dose should be taken immediately. If it exceeds 4 hours, skip the dose and continue with the next dose as originally planned. If the patient vomits after taking the medicine, the same principles should be followed. Pemetinib may cause increased levels of phosphate in the blood. To monitor this indicator, your doctor may perform regular blood tests. If phosphate levels get too high, treatment may be temporarily interrupted and the patient may need to take other medications to lower phosphate levels. During treatment, patients should also follow a special diet to help control phosphate levels.
