How long does it take for selinesol to take effect?
Selinexor (Selinexor) is approved to treat multiple myeloma (MM) and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). This is a type of cancer treatment called targeted therapy. This treatment works by finding cells with specific targets, such as certain proteins, and attaching to them. Selinisol is the first targeted therapy with this specific mechanism of action approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Selinexor contains the active drugselinexor, a selective inhibitor of nuclear export (SINE) and the first such drug approved by the FDA. Selinisol targets cells containing the XPO1 protein. Some cancers have high levels of this protein. Once selinesol attaches to its target, the drug inhibits (blocks) the function of the XPO1 protein. This ultimately kills the cancer cells.
Seleniso usually starts working as soon as you start taking it, but it is unlikely that you will feel the drug working right away. In clinical studies of selinesol, some people's cancer responded to the drug after 1 to 2 months. How long it takes for selinexol to work may depend on the type of cancer being treated. Some people may see improvement quickly, while for others, it may take longer.
The dose of selinexol your doctor prescribes depends on several factors. These include the type and severity of the cancer or other medications the patient is taking Typically, doctors will start patients on a high dose of selinesol. If they encounter trouble or serious side effects, they will lower the dose to find the right dose. Selinisol is intended to be used as a long-term treatment and may be taken until the cancer progresses or until side effects become difficult to control.
