How much does Trastuzumab cost?

Fam-trastuzumab deruxtecan-nxki is an antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) that targets HER2 cancer. It has two parts, a humanized anti-HER-2 monoclonal antibody and a topoisomerase inhibitor payload "deruxtecan," which are covalently linked via a tetrapeptide-based cleavable linker. Once bound to the HER-2 receptor on a tumor cell, the cell internalizes the antibody along with bound deruxtecan, and adapter cleavage occurs via lysosomal enzymes that release deruxtecan. When released, it impairs the ability of cells to replicate when they divide, causing DNA damage and leading to apoptosis.

Trastuzumab has shown promising objective response rates in a variety of cancers, namely non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), gastric cancer (MGC), and breast cancer (MBC) that express the HER2 protein. The substantial improvements in survival and response rates prompted the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to expedite approval of the drug. Detrastuzumab's original drug has been launched in China, but it has not yet entered the scope of medical insurance. It is sold under the trade name /Enhertu.
