Can acotinib treat lung cancer?

Currently, acotinib (Acalabrutinib) is mainly used to treat specific types of leukemia and lymphoma, such as chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), small cell lymphoma (S LL), follicular lymphoma (FL), and diffuse largeB cell lymphoma (DLBCL). Although acotinib has shown significant efficacy as a targeted therapy in the treatment of leukemia and lymphoma, it has not yet been widely used to treat lung cancer.

Lung cancer is one of the most common cancers worldwide, but its etiology and pathogenesis are significantly different from leukemia and lymphoma. Lung cancer is usually divided into two categories: non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancer (SCLC), which have different molecular characteristics and biological behaviors. Although acotinib may affect the growth and spread of tumor cells by inhibiting certain cell signaling pathways, its mechanism of action may not completely match the pathophysiological process of lung cancer, so the efficacy of acotinib in the treatment of lung cancer has not been fully verified.

Currently, treatments for lung cancer mainly include surgical resection, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy. For specific lung cancer patients, targeted therapy drugs such as gefitinib (Gefitinib), erlotinib (Erlotinib) and osimertinib (Osimertinib) have been widely used for EGFR mutation positive of NSCLC patients, and immunotherapy drugs such as bevacizumab (Pembrolizumab) and nivolumab (Nivolumab) are also used to treat patients with advanced NSCLC.

Although acotinib has shown promising efficacy in other cancer types, its potential in the treatment of lung cancer has not been fully studied and confirmed. Therefore, for lung cancer patients, the most appropriate treatment strategy should be selected based on current clinical guidelines and treatment plans to obtain the best treatment effect.
