PI3K plays an important role in cell signaling, and apelixide can interfere with the growth and spread of tumor cells by inhibiting the activity of PI3K, thereby achieving the purpose of treating malignant tumors.

In terms of clinical use, Apelvis has demonstrated significant therapeutic effects. It is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by NCCN guidelines for the treatment of specific types of breast cancer. Specifically, it is suitable for patients with advanced or metastatic breast cancer who are estrogen receptor (HR) positive, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER-2) negative, have PIK3CA gene mutations, and occur in postmenopausal women and men.
