Precautions while taking brigatinib/brigatinib
Brigatinib (Brigatinib) is used to treat patients with metastatic (cancer that has spread) non-small cell lung cancer that has certain types of abnormal anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) genes. It is used in patients who have been treated with crizotinib but whose condition worsens or the drug stops working. Brigatinib is an antineoplastic (cancer) drug. It interferes with the growth of cancer cells, which are eventually eliminated by the body. This medicine is only available with a doctor's prescription.
In a multinational Phase III study (ALTA-1L) of this patient population, brigatinib significantly improved blinded independent review committee-assessed median progression-free survival (PFS), confirmed objective response rate (OR), and confirmed intracranial OR rate compared with crizotinib. It was tolerable in this study and no new safety concerns were identified. Brigatinib therapy expands first-line treatment options to standard therapies in this patient population, including patients with central nervous system metastases.
Patients should use brigatinib strictly in accordance with their doctor's instructions and prescriptions. Do not change your dose or stop taking this medication unless directed by your doctor. While you are taking brigatinib, have regular checkups to monitor the effectiveness of your treatment and possible side effects. This includes blood tests, liver function tests, and electrocardiograms, among other things. Brigatinib may be harmful to the fetus. If you are female and pregnant, or plan to become pregnant, tell your doctor before using brigatinib. At the same time, effective contraceptive measures must be taken during treatment and at least1 month later.
Brigatinib may cause some side effects, such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, headache, etc. If any side effects or discomfort occur, your doctor should be informed promptly for appropriate treatment and support. Brigatinib may interact with other drugs. Before starting treatment with brigatinib, tell your doctor about all the medications you are taking (including prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs, and supplements) so your doctor can evaluate potential interactions and adjust your medication regimen.
