Analysis of drug sources of domestically marketed brigatinib/brigatinib

Brigatinib, also known as brigatinib, this anti-cancer "sharp weapon" has been launched in the domestic market and has been included in the national medical insurance directory. It is worth noting that it is not a domestically produced drug, but produced by foreign pharmaceutical manufacturers and imported into the country. Domestically, it is sold under the brand name brigatinib tablets (ALUNBRIG). As of now, there are no domestically produced generic brigatinib drugs on the market.

Brigatinib is regarded as a new generation of oralALK inhibitors, which has shown excellent inhibitory effects on a variety of clinically relevant ALK mutations in non-clinical studies. What is more worth mentioning is that brigatinib can effectively overcome the resistance to drugs such as crizotinib, ceritinib and alectinib at clinically attainable concentrations.

In the pivotal phase 2 clinical trial ALTA, brigatinib demonstrated significant therapeutic efficacy in the treatment of patients with ALK-positive non-small cell lung cancer who were refractory to crizotinib, and its safety was within an acceptable range. Under the recommended medication regimen (i.e., 90 mg orally daily for the first 7 days, followed by 180 mg daily thereafter), the confirmed objective response rate was as high as 56%, and the median progression-free survival was an impressive 16.7 months.

Currently, the original brigatinib drug on the domestic market is available in a variety of specifications, such as 30mg 14 tablets in 2 boards, 90mg 7 tablets or 7 tablets in 4 boards, and 180mg 7 tablets in 4 boards. Although the drug has been covered by medical insurance, its price is still relatively high, and each box may cost close to 10,000 yuan. However, the specific price after reimbursement may vary depending on the region and medical insurance policy.
