Venetoclax/Venetoclax: Guidelines for Continuing Medication in Leukemia Treatment
Venetoclax/Venetoclax (Venetoclax) is a widely watched leukemia treatment drug, and its application in different diseases has triggered extensive discussions in the medical community. However, when it comes to the question of how long patients with leukemia should take venetoclax, we must recognize that this is a highly individualized and complex issue that defies simple generalizations.
Dosing regimens for venetoclax usually need to be tailored to each patient's unique condition. Generally, the course of treatment with venetoclax consists of a dose escalation phase and a stabilization phase. During the dose escalation phase, doctors will carefully adjust the drug dose based on the patient's tolerance and condition feedback to ensure the optimal therapeutic effect. During the stable treatment phase, patients need to continue taking Venetoclax as directed by their doctor to maintain stable control of the disease.
Veneclar has shown significant efficacy in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) or small lymphocytic leukemia (SLL) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Fortunately, venetoclax works very quickly, with most patients experiencing a significant slowdown in the progression of their disease within about a month. For patients with previously untreated CLL or SLL, venetoclax is often used in combination with obinutuzumab for a treatment period of up to 12 months; for patients who have already received treatment, venetoclax is often used in combination with rituximab, and the treatment period can be extended to 24 months. As for AML patients, as long as physicians assess it as safe, treatment will continue until disease progression is observed or patients experience unacceptable toxicity.
Although venetoclax has proven to be an effective treatment, patients still need to be wary of its potential side effects and risks during use.
