Is Apremilast a hormonal drug?
Apremilast is not a hormonal drug. It is an oral medication that belongs to the class of phosphodioic acid enzyme-4 (PDE4) inhibitors and is used to treat psoriasis and related arthritis.
Different from hormonal drugs, Apremilast's mechanism of action is mainly to exert its therapeutic effect by inhibiting the activity ofPDE4enzyme. PDE4The enzyme is involved in the production and release of inflammatory mediators. Blocking its activity can reduce the inflammatory response, thereby alleviating the symptoms of psoriasis and related arthritis.
Compared with hormonal drugs, Apremilast has the following advantages:

1.Does not affect hormone levels: Apremilast does not affect hormone levels in patients, so it will not cause common side effects of hormone therapy, such as hormone dependence, steroid-induced obesity, steroid-induced diabetes, etc.
2.Fewer side effects: Compared with hormonal drugs, Apremilast has relatively fewer and mild side effects, mainly including headache, nausea, diarrhea and other gastrointestinal adverse reactions, and usually will gradually reduce in the early stages of treatment.
3.Long-term sustainable use: Apremilast is a long-term sustainable use drug, suitable for chronic diseases that require long-term treatment, such as psoriasis and related arthritis. Patients can take it for a long time to control the condition and prevent recurrence.
Although Apremilast is not a hormonal drug, patients should still consult their doctor before use and strictly follow the doctor's instructions to use the drug correctly. At the same time, like all drugs, patients should pay close attention to any adverse reactions during use and report them to their doctors in a timely manner.
