What is the difference between dasatinib and imatinib?

For example, in the SPIRIT2 study, a significantly higher proportion of patients who took dasatinib achieved CCyR (complete cytogenetic response) at 24 months than those who took imatinib. However, in terms of long-term survival, the difference between the two drugs was not significant.

Common adverse reactions of imatinib include facial edema, muscle spasm, myalgia, nausea, vomiting, etc. Dasatinib may cause adverse reactions, including pleural effusion, but the incidence of some adverse reactions may be lower compared with imatinib. Dasatinib may be an effective treatment option for some patients who develop resistance to imatinib.
