How much does it cost to import troagliptin from Japan?
Trelagliptin, branded as Zafatek, is a drug used to treat type 2 diabetes (diabetes) . It is a highly selective dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitor commonly used as add-on therapy when first-line treatment with metformin fails to achieve expected glycemic goals; although it has been approved as first-line treatment when metformin cannot be used. DPP-4 inhibitors activate T cells and are often called T cell activating antigens (especiallyCD26). Chemically, it is a fluorinated derivative of alogliptin.
The formula of trotagliptin is trotagliptin succinate salt, which was approved for use in Japan in March 2015. Takeda, which developed troagliptin, chose not to get the drug approved in the U.S. and European Union. Gliptin is thought to have cardiovascular protective capabilities, although the extent of these effects remains under investigation. The ability of this class of drugs to promote B cell survival is also being studied. Similar drugs in the same class as trotagliptin are administered once daily, whereas trotagliptin is administered once weekly, and the molecule has good glycemic efficacy and safety, with the advantage of reducing the number of pills per month from 30 to 4 pills per month.
Since the original drug Trelagliptin has not yet been approved for marketing in China, its price in the domestic market cannot be determined, and it cannot be included in medical insurance. However, it can be learned from overseas markets that the price of a box of troagliptin original medicine with a specification of 50 mg 20 tablets is about more than 1,000 yuan, while the price of 100 mg 20 tablets may exceed more than 2,000 yuan, but the specific price may fluctuate due to exchange rate changes.
