Which patients are suitable for taking Eltrombopag/Eltrombopag ethanolamine tablets?

Eltrombopag/After Eltrombopag is launched, the approved uses include the following:

1. Persistent or chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP): Eltrombopag is a prescription drug used to treat adults and children 1 year and older who have low platelet counts due to persistent or chronic immune thrombocytopenia when other drugs or splenectomy surgery to treat ITP are ineffective. Eltrombopag is mainly used to increase platelet counts to reduce the risk of bleeding.

2. Thrombocytopenia (ITP) in patients with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV): Eltrombopag is a prescription drug used to treat low platelet counts in patients with chronic hepatitis C virus infection before and during interferon therapy. Eltrombopag should only be used in patients with chronic hepatitis C who have low platelet counts and are unable to start or continue interferon therapy. It is unclear whether eltrombopag is safe and effective when used with other antiviral drugs approved to treat chronic hepatitis C.

3. Severe aplastic anemia (SAA): Eltrombopag is a prescription drug used to treat patients with severe aplastic anemia in combination with standard immunosuppressive therapy. It is the first treatment for adults and children 2 years of age and older. Eltrombopag is also used to treat SAA when other drugs are not effective. It is unclear whether eltrombopag is safe and effective when used in combination with standard immunosuppressive therapy as a first treatment for SAA in children with chronic HCV or previously treated SAA, in children younger than 1 year of age with ITP, or in children younger than 2 years of age.

4. Eltrombopag is used to treat certain people with low platelet counts caused by persistent or chronic ITP, chronic HCV, or SAA, but not to normalize platelet counts; nor is it used to treat a precancerous condition called myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) or low platelet counts caused by other conditions.
