Precautions while using Osimertinib
The recommended dose of osimertinib is once a day, 80mg (one tablet) each time. The drug can be taken orally, and the intake of food does not affect its absorption, so patients can choose to take it with a meal or on an empty stomach. However, in order to ensure the stability of blood drug concentration, it is recommended to take the drug at the same time every day.
Patients should swallow the tablet whole and avoid crushing, breaking, or chewing. If you have difficulty swallowing, you can put the tablets into 50ml of non-carbonated water (no need to crush), stir evenly and take it immediately, then add half a cup of water to rinse the remaining medicine in the cup and drink it quickly.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible within 12 hours. If it is less than 12 hours before the next dose, the medication should not be taken again.
Common side effects of osimertinib include rash, dry skin, paronychia, itching, and diarrhea. Patients should pay attention to their body's reaction and seek medical attention immediately if they experience serious side effects such as severe diarrhea, dehydration, or skin lesions (such as bullous, vesicular, and exfoliative skin symptoms). Patients may also develop heart complaints such as congestive heart failure and severe arrhythmias. If such symptoms occur, you should stop taking the medication immediately and consult your doctor.
Osimertinib is contraindicated in pregnant women unless the expected benefits outweigh the potential risks to the fetus. Breastfeeding women should suspend breastfeeding when use is necessary. This drug is not recommended for children, and older adults may need more frequent dose adjustments due to a higher incidence of adverse reactions. Patients who are allergic to any component of osimertinib and patients who have concurrent QTc interval prolongation need to avoid this product.
Patients should avoid taking certain drugs such as St. John's wort and rifampin at the same time while taking osimertinib to avoid drug interactions. At the same time, liver function, electrocardiogram, heart function, electrolytes, etc. should be checked regularly.
