How much does evantuzumab treatment cost for one month?
Amivantamab (amivantamab-vmjw) is a low-fucose human immunoglobulin G1 type bispecific antibody targeting EGF and MET receptors. It is produced from a mammalian cell line (Chinese Hamster Ovary[CHO]) using recombinant DNA technology and has a molecular weight of approximately 148 kDa. Evantumumab injection for intravenous infusion is a sterile, preservative-free, colorless to pale yellow solution in a single-dose vial. Each evantuzumab vial contains 350 mg (50 mg/mL) of amivantamab-vmjw.
Evantumumab may be used to treat non-small cell lung cancer that has an abnormal EGFR gene and has spread to other parts of the body (metastatic) or cannot be removed with surgery. Doctors will make sure the patient has the right type of tumor to receive evantumumab. Evantuzumab is given after other treatments have failed or been discontinued. Patients should be given antihistamines (anti-allergy drugs), antipyretics (fever-reducing drugs), and corticosteroids before the first treatment to reduce infusion-related reactions. For the remainder of treatment, patients should take antihistamines and fever-reducing medications.
During treatment, evantumumab can be used alone or in combination with other drugs. When used in combination, patients weighing less than 80Kg should be injected once a week for the first four weeks, a total of four times, with a dose of 1400mg; patients weighing 80Kg or more should be injected once a week for the first four weeks, a total of four times, with a dose of 1750mg. Beginning in the seventh week, injections will be given every three weeks at doses of 1,750 mg and 2,100 mg until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity.
When evantumumab is used alone, patients weighing less than 80Kg should be injected once a week for the first five weeks, a total of five times, with a dose of 1050mg; patients weighing 80Kg or more, the same injection should be once a week for the first five weeks, a total of five times, with a dose of 1400mg. Beginning in the seventh week, injections will be given every three weeks at doses of 1,050 mg and 1,400 mg until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity.
The price of the European version of the original drug sold overseas may be around RMB 20,000 (the price may fluctuate due to exchange rates). The cost of one month of evantumumab treatment depends on the patient's weight and treatment plan. The cost for one month may be more than 10,000 yuan, which is relatively expensive. However, these costs are a guide only and actual costs may vary depending on factors such as region, hospital, and insurance status. Currently, there are no cheaper generic versions of evantuzumab available for sale overseas.
