Can ivonib (ivitinib) treat cancer?
Ivosidenib is a drug that targets specific cancers, but it does not "treat cancer well." Ivonib is mainly used to treat cancers carrying IDH1 (isocitrate dehydrogenase-1) mutations. IDH1 mutations cause abnormal cell metabolism, thereby promoting the growth and spread of cancer cells. Ivonib blocks this process by inhibiting the activity of IDH1 mutant enzyme, thereby slowing down and inhibiting the proliferation of cancer cells. Currently, ivosidenib is approved for the treatment of relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and advanced metastatic cholangiocarcinoma.
Clinical trial results show that ivonib has shown significant clinical responses in patients with refractory or relapsed AML and can prolong patient survival. For example, in the AGILE study for AML, ivonib combined with azacitidine significantly prolonged event-free survival and overall survival compared with the placebo plus azacitidine group. For cholangiocarcinoma, ivonib has also shown therapeutic effects and can prolong the survival time of patients.
Although ivosidenib is effective in treating certain types of cancer, it is not a cure for all types of cancer. In addition, even for cancers within the scope of applicable diseases, ivonib cannot guarantee a complete cure, but can control and alleviate the disease.
When treated with ivonib, patients may experience some side effects, such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, and rash. Therefore, when using ivonib for treatment, it is necessary to closely monitor the patient's physical condition and cooperate with the doctor for treatment and dose adjustment.
To sum up, ivonib is an effective anti-cancer drug, but it does not guarantee a complete cure for cancer. It is mainly used to treat specific types of cancer carryingIDH1 mutations and has shown significant therapeutic effects in clinical trials. However, patients still need to pay attention to possible side effects when using it and conduct treatment under the guidance of a doctor.
