Acemini's detailed instructions
Asciminib is used to treat a certain type of chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML;) as a first-choice treatment for patients who no longer benefit from other leukemia drugs. Aceminib belongs to a class of drugs called kinase inhibitors. It works by blocking the action of abnormal proteins that signal cancer cells to multiply. This helps stop the spread of cancer cells.
Dosage: Aceminib is available as an oral tablet. Avoid eating at least 2 hours before and 1 hour after taking asiminib. Swallow the tablet whole. Do not break, crush, or chew tablets.
Recommended dose in Ph+ CML CP: 80 mg PO once daily, or 40 mg PO twice daily.
Recommended dose for Ph+ CML in CP with T315I mutation: 200 mg PO twice daily.
Side Effects: Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives, rash; feeling dizzy or weak; fever ; Fast heartbeat; difficulty breathing; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Aceminid may cause serious side effects. Contact your doctor immediately if you:
Heart problems—Pain in the arms, legs, back, neck, or jaw, numbness or weakness on one side of the body, speech or vision problems, dizziness,headaches, swelling in ankles or feet, chest pain, irregular heartbeat, rapid weight gain, feeling short of breath, severe stomach pain;
High blood pressure—severe headache, blurred vision, pounding in the neck or ears;
Low blood count—Fever, chills, tiredness, flu-like symptoms, mouth sores, skin sores, easy bruising, unusual bleeding, pale skin, cold hands and feet; or
Pancreatic problems—Sudden stomach pain or discomfort, nausea or vomiting.
Common side effects of acemini may include: cold symptoms such as stuffy nose, sneezing, sore throat; muscle, bone, or joint pain; fatigue; nausea, diarrhea; rash; or abnormal blood tests. This is not a complete list of side effects, and other side effects may occur. Regardless of any physical discomfort the patient experiences while using Aceminid, the patient should seek medical treatment immediately.
NOTES: Tell your doctor if you use other medications or have other medical conditions or allergies. Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have ever had: inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis); or heart problems or blood clots. You may need to have a negative pregnancy test before starting this treatment. It may be more difficult for you to get pregnant while you are using Asiminib. Aceminix may harm an unborn baby. Use effective contraception while you are using this medication and for at least 1 week after your last dose. If you are pregnant, tell your doctor right away. Breastfeeding should not be done while you are using this medicine and for at least 1 week after the last dose.
Storage: Store at room temperature, away from moisture and heat.
