How to take oral semaglutide
Oral semaglutide is a new type of drug for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It is a GLP-1R (glycopeptide-1 receptor) agonist. This drug activates the GLP-1 receptor, promotes insulin secretion and inhibits glucagon secretion in a glucose concentration-dependent manner, thereby achieving the effect of lowering blood sugar. In addition to its hypoglycemic effect, it can also increase satiety by delaying gastric emptying and suppress appetite by inhibiting the hypothalamic feeding center. Therefore, it has also shown a certain weight loss effect in practical applications.

Take semaglutide with no more than 4 ounces of plain water at least 30 minutes before the patient's first meal, drink, or other oral medication of the day Waiting less than 30 minutes or taking semaglutide with food, drinks (other than plain water), or other oral medications can reduce the absorption of semaglutide, thereby reducing the effects of semaglutide. Waiting more than 30 minutes before eating may increase the absorption of semaglutide. Swallow the tablet whole. Do not break, crush, or chew tablets.
Start taking semaglutide3 mg once daily for 30 days. The 3 mg dose is used to initiate treatment and is not effective for glycemic control. After 30 days of taking the 3 mg dose, increase the dose to 7 mg once daily. If additional glycemic control is required after taking the 7 mg dose for at least 30 days, the dose may be increased to 14 mg once daily. Taking two 7 mg semaglutide tablets is not recommended to achieve a 14 mg dose. If a dose is missed, skip the missed dose and take the next dose the next day.
It is important to note that although oral semaglutide has some weight loss effects, it is not specifically approved for weight loss purposes. Therefore, when using it, the main goal should be to treat diabetes and follow the doctor's guidance and prescription regulations. At the same time, patients should also pay attention to their physical reactions and side effects, adjust the dosage or discontinue medication in a timely manner, and maintain close communication with their doctors.
