Medication Guide for Avatrombopag
Avatrombopag (Avatrombopag) is an innovative oral thrombopoietin receptor agonist that offers new treatment opportunities for patients with certain thrombocytopenias. Avatrombopag is mainly used to treat hypothrombocytosis and chronic immune thrombocytopenia caused by chronic liver disease. It activates mechanisms in the body to increase the production and release of platelets, thereby increasing the number of platelets.
Avatrombopag should be taken with meals to improve absorption and utilization of the drug. For patients with chronic liver disease, it is recommended to start taking it 10 to 13 days before medical procedures, once a day for 5 days. When the platelet count is lower than 40×10^9/L, take 60mg (3 tablets) orally once a day. The platelet count is between 40 and 50 For patients with chronic immune thrombocytopenia, the starting dose for adults is 20 mg (1 tablets) taken orally once a day. Doctors can adjust the dose as needed, but usually no more than 40 mg (2 tablets) taken orally once a day.

Medicines should be stored in a sealed container at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture, and out of the reach of children. If you have a history of allergies to avatrombopag or other drugs, you must notify your doctor immediately. Pregnant women should consult a doctor to avoid potential risks. Breast-feeding women should not breast-feed while taking the drug and for at least 2 weeks after stopping the drug. When taking avatrombopag, you should inform your doctor about your current medication status to avoid drug interactions.
Possible adverse reactions after using avatrombopag include fever, abdominal pain, nausea, headache, fatigue, and peripheral edema. A small number of patients may experience serious side effects such as allergic reactions, hyponatremia, and thrombosis/Thromboembolic complications. If serious adverse reactions occur, seek medical attention immediately.
Avatrombopag offers a new treatment strategy for patients with thrombocytopenia. When using it, patients should strictly follow the doctor's instructions, pay attention to observing body reactions, and communicate with the doctor in a timely manner to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the treatment.
