Instructions for use of Anamorelin (Chinese version)
Indications
Anamulin is a drug used to treat cancer cachexia (Cachexia) in patients with various malignancies. Its applicable cancer types include but are not limited to non-small cell lung cancer, gastric cancer, pancreatic cancer and colorectal cancer.
Mechanism of action
The main mechanism of Anamorelin is to stimulate the appetite center of the brain by simulating the body's natural secretion of ghrelin. This not only increases patients' hunger but also prompts them to increase their food intake. In this way, anamorelin can effectively reverse weight loss and anorexia in patients with cachexia, thereby improving patients' quality of life. Studies show the drug has a positive impact on increasing appetite and improving weight management, providing a new treatment option for patients with cachexia.
Medication method
In adult patients, the recommended dose of anamorelin is 100 mg taken orally once daily on an empty stomach. Physicians will adjust the dose based on the patient's specific response and tolerance, but the maximum daily dose should not exceed 200mg.
side effects
1.Gastrointestinal reactions: After taking anamulin, some patients may experience uncomfortable symptoms such as nausea, vomiting or diarrhea. These reactions are usually mild, but may still interfere with the patient's daily life and medication compliance.
2.Eedema: Some patients may experience edema in the lower limbs because medications may affect fluid balance, leading to water retention in certain parts of the body.
3.Fatigue: Some patients report feeling tired or weak while taking this drug. This condition may be related to symptoms of cachexia itself or may be a side effect of anamorelin.
4.Increased blood sugar: Anamorelin may have an impact on blood sugar levels, leading to an increase in blood sugar. Therefore, patients with diabetes need to take extra caution when using this drug and may need to adjust the dose of their antidiabetic medication.
5.Other uncommon side effects: In addition, anamorelin may also cause some relatively rare side effects, such as headache, insomnia, and rash. Although the incidence of these side effects is low, patients using this drug still need to remain vigilant and communicate with their doctor promptly when necessary.
Warnings and precautions
1.If patients have existing heart disease, such as congestive heart failure or angina, this drug should be used with caution, because anamorelin may affect heart function and increase the risk of electrocardiogram abnormalities and arrhythmias.
2.Patients with impaired liver function should be particularly careful when using anamorelin, because the drug is mainly metabolized by the liver, which may increase the burden on the liver and lead to further deterioration of liver function.
3.Patients with diabetes need to closely monitor blood sugar levels while taking anamorelin to avoid the risk of elevated blood sugar.
4.Patients should receive regular medical evaluation, including monitoring of weight, appetite changes, and drug side effects, so that doctors can promptly adjust the medication plan according to the patient's specific situation.
drug interactions
1.Interactions with gastric acid-suppressing drugs: For example, the absorption rate of anamulin may be reduced when used concurrently with proton pump inhibitors. Therefore, it is recommended to avoid concurrent use of this class of drugs or to subject them to strict monitoring if necessary.
2.Other drug interactions: Anamorelin may also interact with many prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs, and dietary supplements. During use, if patients need to take other drugs at the same time, they must inform their doctor or pharmacist so that potential interactions can be evaluated and professional medication advice can be obtained.
Medication for special populations
For special groups such as the elderly, pregnant women, and lactating women, special caution is required when using anamulin and follow the doctor's professional guidance and recommendations to ensure safe and effective treatment.
