Dabrafenib/dabrafenib preparation form and correct dosage guide
Dabrafenib is a highly effective targeted therapy drug that is widely used in the treatment of specific types of malignant melanoma and various other tumors. To meet the treatment needs of different patients, dabrafenib is available in a variety of formulations, including convenient oral capsules and oral tablets.
Dabrafenib is available in two oral capsule strengths: 50 mg and 75 mg. Both doses of capsules are available in boxes of 120 capsules, designed to ensure patients can continue and stably complete the treatment cycle. When taking it, patients should swallow the capsule whole and do not open, break or chew it to ensure the integrity and efficacy of the drug.
Specifically, a 50 mg capsule contains 59.25 mg of dabrafenib mesylate, which is equivalent to 50 mg of dabrafenib free base. The 75 mg capsule contains 88.88 mg of dabrafenib mesylate, which is equivalent to 75 mg of dabrafenib free base. In addition, to meet the need for lower dose treatment, dabrafenib is also available in 10 mg oral tablets, each tablet contains 11.85 mg of dabrafenib mesylate, which is 10 mg of dabrafenib free base.
For patients taking oral suspensions, correct administration is also critical. Patients are required to mix the prescribed number of suspension tablets with water before taking them. Remember not to swallow the tablet whole or chew or crush the tablet. Depending on the number of tablets taken, the patient should add an appropriate amount of cool drinking water to the dosing cup: 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of water for 1 to 4 tablets, and 2 teaspoons (10 ml) of water for 5 to 15 tablets. Subsequently, place the tablets in water and stir for 3 minutes, or until the mixture is completely dissolved and a cloudy liquid forms. After mixing, patients should drink it immediately or within 30 minutes. To ensure that the medication in the dosing cup is fully taken, the patient will also add 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of water to the cup, stir and drink to rinse away any particles remaining in the cup. If the patient is taking between 5 and 15 tablets, rinse the dosing cup again with another teaspoon of water. It is important to note that if the mixture is not consumed within 30 minutes, be sure to dispose of it properly.
