What is rheumatic immune disease?
Rheumatological diseases (rheumatic diseases) are a type of diseases that mainly involve joints, muscles and connective tissues, and are usually accompanied by abnormalities in immune system function. This type of disease is common in middle-aged and older people, but can also affect younger people and even children. Symptoms of rheumatic immune diseases are diverse, and common ones include joint pain, swelling, morning stiffness, fatigue, etc. Patients may also experience systemic symptoms, such as fever, fatigue, and weight loss.
There are many specific types of rheumatic immune diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, ankylosing spondylitis, Sjogren's syndrome, gout, etc. These diseases have different etiologies, clinical manifestations, and treatments. Take rheumatoid arthritis, for example, a chronic autoimmune disease characterized primarily by symmetrical arthritis that typically affects the fingers, wrists, and knees. Systemic lupus erythematosus is an autoimmune disease involving multiple organs, often manifesting as skin damage, joint pain, kidney damage, etc.
The exact pathogenesis of rheumatic immune diseases is not fully understood, but research shows that genetic factors, environmental factors (such as viral infection, smoking, etc.) and abnormal responses of the immune system may play an important role in the occurrence of the disease. Excessive inflammatory factors are produced in patients' bodies, triggering immune cells to attack their own tissues, leading to tissue damage and dysfunction.
Due to the complexity of rheumatic immune diseases, diagnosis usually requires a comprehensive history, clinical manifestations and laboratory tests, including blood tests (such as antinuclear antibodies, rheumatoid factor, etc.) and imaging tests (such asX-rays, MRI, etc.). Early diagnosis is critical to improving patient prognosis and can help initiate treatment promptly, reduce joint damage and improve quality of life.
